One of our goals was to begin giving you guys monthly updates. November was a big month for us, so lets get into it !
After an initial phase with outsourced development, 762 Interactive took a major step forward: we’ve structured our own dedicated internal team for Project Kingpin. This shift has given us more autonomy, clearer priorities, and a fresh wave of creative and technical energy that’s already transforming the project.
Building the Core Team
With the arrival of a Tech Lead and a full-time Senior Game Designer, we’ve been able to:
- Align priorities across design and engineering
- Bring more consistency to how we build and evaluate features
- Plan toward full production with a clearer long-term vision
This is the core that Project Kingpin will grow from.
Technical Development: Code Review, Debugging, and Foundations
Behind the scenes, November was all about strengthening the project’s backbone.
One of the first major tasks was a deep code review and debugging pass to make sure our foundations are solid. That’s especially important when new programmers join the team: clarity, documentation, and best practices become non-negotiable.
We’re investing in:
- Well-structured pipelines
- Consistent development patterns
- Clear architecture that scales into full production
This kind of technical discipline is what will let us build a large, complex strategy game without losing stability along the way.
“November was a crucial period in which we reinforced our architecture, consolidated design standards, and executed strategic refactoring. It was like reviewing the structure of a building before adding new floors. Now we have a solid foundation to scale safely and efficiently.”
— Alberto Assunção, Tech Lead
Game Design: Refining the Core Game Loop
On the creative side, the focus has been on revisiting and refining the core game loop — the heart of Project Kingpin’s experience.
Our goal is to make sure:
- Systems are well-connected, fluid, and coherent
- Every feature reinforces the core fantasy: rising as an aspiring crime kingpin
- The player experience always comes first
Every action you take in the game should not only make mechanical sense, but also amplify the feeling of power, pressure, risk, and strategy that defines your rise.
“In November, we revisited the core loop from its foundations — redefining systems, reassessing key decisions, and aligning features across strategic, tactical, and operational layers. These refinements are giving us a clearer structure to evolve the game with purpose and cohesion.”
— Marisardo Filho, Game Designer
Prototype Progress: Laying the Groundwork
Over the past few weeks, we’ve pushed our prototype forward. In addition to improving mechanics we’d already built, we delivered several essential systems focused on usability and player experience.
This work is all about one thing: preparing a build that’s ready to be played, tested, and iterated on.
The Next Big Milestone: User Testing
All this effort, from tightening the codebase to refining the core loop, is leading to our next major milestone: the first round of user tests.
This will be the very first time the community gets hands-on with Project Kingpin, and we’re genuinely excited to see what you think.
If you’re interested in participating in these early tests:
- Keep an eye on our social channels and community spaces
- We’ll soon share how you can sign up and be part of this crucial stage of development
Your feedback will help shape how Project Kingpin evolves from here.
